On Aug. 17, the region came together to support student-led learning initiatives at Lakeland College, raising $90,000 at Feast on the Farm presented by Cenovus Energy.

I can't wait to see what our students can do with the funds raised this year, thanks to the generosity of our community.”

The event featured a delicious meal served under a tent on the grounds of Lakeland's Research Centre. Guests were treated to a live entertainment by Garrett Gregory, a silent auction, and a program which featured four students sharing how Lakeland's student-led learning model has impacted them in their studies and future career prospects.

Since Feast on the Farm began in 2016, more than $260,000 have been raised to support student-led initiatives. Projects are guided by faculty, with students taking the helm as they plan and implement their projects. In the past, projects have included a natural playscape, upgrades to the Student-Managed Farm - Powered by New Holland, new technology incorporated into trades and energy labs, new equipment for the Emergency Training Centre and student-led salon and spa, and business networking and pitch events.
