Hands-on in the field

What sets Lakeland apart is how much time you spend in the field. It starts on your first day here. Be prepared with your own pruning shears, we'll supply binoculars and hip waders.

You will find yourself:

• classifying soil on Lakeland College land
• counting or assessing plants in the Vermilion Provincial Park
• taking measurements at a nearby creek or river
• visiting a reclaimed site

Get your feet wet

Our certificate is a great place to start getting to know more about environmental jobs and build skills. You'll probably decide to stay on another year and take one of our majors.

Choose a diploma major

Lakeland's 2-year environmental sciences diploma has 5 majors. That means you have 5 options for what area you'd like to specialize in your study and work. You could even stay for a third year for a double major.

Go further with a degree

Our applied science degree in environmental management builds upon your credential and includes an 8-month practicum, where you'll gain employable skills and experience.

Open the door to sustainable energy

Choose from a certificate or a diploma in sustainable energy. All courses, except one, are online. If you choose the diploma route your final course is hands-on at our Research Centre.
