On campus support

Our support for international students starts with our international department.

Each campus has an international support coordinator. They will be your contacts through admission and orientation, as well as once you're at Lakeland.

But they aren't your only sources of help.

Lakeland puts student success first. Our services reflect that commitment.

There's a student services office on both campuses.

If you're ever not sure where to start to look for help, this is where you can start.

Among the services located here are:

  • admissions
  • financial aid and awards
  • student accounts
  • cashier
  • international support
  • registrar's office
  • enrolment
  • health services
  • Indigenous support
  • wellness including counsellor

Student services' staff can also connect you with the people or resources you want that are in the other parts of the college or community.

International Student Forms

The International Student Support Coordinators are here to assist students before arriving on campus, as well as while they are students at Lakeland. Student Support Coordinators can assist with connecting students with resources on campus and in the community, can assist with study permit questions, and advise students.

  • Chahat Sawara RCIC – R705853
  • Jill Applegate RISIA – S800230
  • Courtney King RISIA – S800228

International students who study for longer than 6 months are required to have a valid study permit, specific to the Designated Learning Institution (DLI) they are studying at.

To study at Lakeland students need to ensure their study permit and co-op work permit (if needed) meet the requirement and duration of their program of study.

Students with questions or that need clarification can connect with an International Student Support Coordinator for assistance.

Each international student receives international health insurance through their mandatory non-instructional fees.

The health care provider is Guard.me, and students can learn more about what is included in their coverage, how to insure dependents, or how to submit a claim on the Lakeland specific website - https://www.guard.me/lakelandc

If you have any questions on your Guard.me coverage please contact the International team.

It is highly recommended that students apply for provincial health care coverage once they are eligible. Having provincial health care coverage can ensure more comprehensive coverage and easier access to regional health care.
