Admission requirements vary by program

Go to the program finder and choose a program. Once on the program overview page, navigate to the Requirements tab to find the specific requirements for the program.

While requirements vary program to program, there are common requirements shared by each program offered at Lakeland College. You can learn more about these below.

Academic requirements

We may be able to offer you conditional admission with documentation that shows you have completed or are currently enrolled in the required course(s) or program needed for admission.

An official transcript is required for full admission. The due date will be listed in your My Lakeland portal. It is approximately one month before the program start date.

An official transcript is required for final admission. Official means it is not a photocopy, fax or email (unless the email comes directly from your high school or the Ministry of Education).

The following document shows current subject equivalencies for Alberta and the other Canadian provinces and territories. Prior equivalents will still be considered and will be assessed by the admissions office. You may download the complete document as a PDF.

The data is subject to change without notice. The document was most recently updated in August 2024.

If you have any questions about equivalencies, please contact the registrar's office at 1 800 661 6490 ext. 5417.

Education

If you attended an Alberta high school or a post-secondary institution that participates in ApplyAlberta, we will automatically receive your official transcript.

If you attended a Canadian high school or a post-secondary institution outside of Alberta, you must order your official transcript.

For information on ordering an official high school transcript from your province or territory, visit the ALIS Alberta website.

For information on ordering an official post-secondary transcript, contact or order from the post-secondary institution directly.

Email copies of your educational documents.

In the event we cannot evaluate your international education compared to Alberta standards, you will be emailed information on your options to gain admission.

Admission Documents can be submitted in the following ways:

  • If you are a non-graduate or are missing the required course(s) for the program, you may still gain admission by completing an entrance test. Ask about our Special Admission process. *some exclusions apply
  • If final official transcripts are not received by the due date in your My Lakeland portal, your offer of admission may be revoked.

Other admission requirements

All applicants, regardless of citizenship or country of origin, must meet English language profiency (ELP). Review our English language requirements.

In addition to academic requirements, some of our programs have additional admission requirements such as work experience, first aid certifications, driver license qualifications, etc. You can find this information by going to the respective program page and viewing the requirements tab.

After you've been accepted to a program, you must also meet any specific program requirements, such as immunizations, criminal record checks, safety tickets or other certifications, etc.

Not all programs have additional requirements. You will need to check your program by viewing its page and reading the program requirements tab. If you have any questions, please contact your enrolment specialist.
