A variety of pens and adhesives are in your future as an interior design student.

Check out the complete list of required supplies as well as laptop requirements.

Arrange to buy and pick up textbooks and other supplies from the campus bookstore. Call or email for help.

Required items:

  • 1 pair scissors
  • 1 small X-Acto knife & package of replacement blades or a heavy duty mat knife & package of replacement blades
  • 1 tape measure - metric/imperial; 25 ft minimum, 50 ft preferred
  • 1 set (24 minimum) Prismacolor Scholar colour pencils
  • good quality pencil sharpener
  • 2 of 9" x 12" hardcover sketch books with good quality paper
  • white gel pen
  • USB memory stick with 32GB (USB A)
  • binder or notebook for taking notes
  • folder for collecting handouts
  • acrylic paint (2 oz bottles - black, red, blue, yellow, 2 x white)
  • Copic markers (from an art supply store) colours as listed:
    • Blender marker - include a refill
    • Neutral Gray 0 - include a refill
    • Neutral Gray 2
    • Neutral Gray 4
    • Neutral Gray 6
    • Neutral Gray 8
  • personal laptop is required for the program

System requirements:

  • Windows/PC – no Macintosh products as our on campus labs and support are PC-based
  • Operating System: Windows 11 64 bit
  • CPU type: 3+ GHz 64 bit processor (x86 - Intel or AMD, not ARM)
  • Memory: 32 GB+ of RAM
  • Storage: 512+ GB SSD or larger
  • Display: 1920 x 1080 or higher
  • Graphics Card: 8 GB Dedicated / Discrete (not integrated) GPU (something like Nvidia is good)
  • Pointing Device: MS-Mouse compliant, 3 button, scroll wheel mouse.
  • HDMI output port
  • USB ports: 2 x USB A

Additional requirements:

Lakeland College provides each student with a license for required Microsoft programs.

  • Students will be notified by the instructors when additional graphics software is required. Student versions of these software programs are available for download.

Notes:

  • Please use only SSD or M.2 storage technology for your boot/primary device as using a different storage technology will diminish your laptop's performance
  • Some applications have problems displaying properly with 4K screens and additional software patching will be required to resolve issues, prefer 1920x1080 resolution.
  • Windows Defender is the recommended anti-virus software. The installation of some 3rd party anti-virus and anti-malware packages might interfere with some of the applications you will use.
