Calendar is a word that's used a lot around a college campus. Even your friends might ask you what's on your calendar.
But if you're wondering about the first and last day of classes, when spring break is and the last day to withdraw from a course, then you need to check out the academic year schedule and the important dates pages specific to your program.
Term Dates shows the first and last day of classes for each semester. Some of our programs are a little different from the September through April scenario with extended practicums and field trips. In particular, energy, fire and emergency services programs and apprenticeship programs.
The Academic Year, or schedule, includes much more than the first and last day of each semester, there are also a lot of other dates, such as holidays, listed. We've even included some of the key dates in this and the next academic years.
Notes:
- The academic year schedule applies to most college programs that start in September. Please see the term dates listed below for specific program start, end dates and practicum dates.
- Not all programs have fall and spring breaks.
- The academic year schedule doesn't include apprenticeship programs and continuing education courses. See the apprenticeship intake schedule and individual continuing education courses for more details.
- If you need more information, please check with registrar's office or your program head.

2024
Aug 12 — Fees due fall term semester 1 for most programs
Sept 3 — Registration day
Sept 4 — First day of classes, semester 1
Sept 11 — Last day to add semester 1 courses
Sept 24 — Last day to drop semester 1 courses. Last day to withdraw from college with full refund less tuition deposit
Sept 30 — National Truth & Reconciliation Day, college closed
Oct 14 — Thanksgiving, college closed
Nov 1 — Last day to withdraw from semester 1 with W grade or change from credit to audit
Nov 8-11 — Fall break for most students
Nov 11 — Remembrance Day, college closed
Dec 2 — Fees due winter term semester 2 for most programs
Dec 13 — Last day of semester 1
Dec 16–Jan 3 — Christmas break for most students
2025
Jan 7 — First day of classes, winter term semester 2
Jan 13 — Last day to add semester 2 courses
Jan 28 — Last day to drop semester 2 courses. Last day to withdraw with 100% refund of semester 2 fees.
Feb 17 — Family Day, college closed
Feb 17-21 — Reading Week— Spring Break for most students
March 14 — Last day to withdraw from semester 2 courses with W grade or change from credit to audit.
April 18-21 — Easter Break, college closed
April 25 — Last day semester 2 for most students
May 19 — Victoria Day, college closed
May 30 — Lloydminster Campus Convocation
June 6 — Vermilion Campus Convocation
