From an introductory workshop about the heavy oil and gas industry to completing power engineering courses, Lakeland's continuing education provides a wide range of courses and programs.
From personal through to professional development, there's a course for you.

Take the next step in your power engineering career with online 3rd Class training.
Most refineries, upgraders and plants that have more than 15,000 kW steam generation require 3rd class power engineers to operate their equipment.

Get accredited steam time through Lakeland College to complete your power engineering certification.
You’ll use our 4th class steam lab at the Lloydminster campus.
The lab is approved by the Alberta Boilers Safety Association as meeting the firing time requirements and practical experience to gain full certification.

Move into a supervisory position.
Study what you need to know to challenge the ABSA Fired Process Heater Operator certificate exam.

This 4-course online program will take you through all the theory you’ll need to work as a gas process operator.

Intro to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
Arm yourself with skills to communicate more easily with tradesmen, engineers and
construction personnel with this introductory course.
At the most basic level you'll learn to read and understand P&ID drawings.

Pre-engineering mathematics and applied mechanics
Gain confidence in your math and physics skills before you start a 4th class power engineering program.
In 90-days you'll cover both applied math and applied mechanics (physics).

Learn how to safely and efficiently operate a heavy oil production site.
Add a skill or get certification for your job.
Take all four courses online. You’ll receive a certificate when you complete all of them.

Geared towards power engineers and operations, review basic theory and operation of heat transfer equipment found in power engineering and process plants.
Prepare for 4th, 3rd and 2nd class exams with this course.
