Alberta Education and Childcare's Career and Technology Studies (CTS) program helps high school students explore career pathways and develop practical skills. Lakeland College partners with participating school divisions to deliver CTS training, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on campus while earning high school credit.

Through CTS at Lakeland College, you'll:

  • earn a high school credit from their school
  • explore a potential career
  • learn hands-on at our Vermilion campus Trades Centre
  • develop skills
  • gain confidence

At Lakeland, you  can explore:

  • carpentry
  • electrical
  • interior design
  • mechanics
  • welding

Two local school divisions—Buffalo Trail Public School and East Central Catholic Schools—send students to Lakeland College for CTS training.

Since 2015, we’ve trained over 400 students annually.

Registration information

Registration for CTS programming is coordinated through participating school divisions. As courses are offered on a cohort basis and require sufficient enrolment to run, along with associated costs to both the school division and students, Lakeland isn't able to accept individual registration requests. Please contact your school division directly for available and registration details.
