Your program options
International students are eligible to take most of our Lakeland College certificate and diploma programs.
However, there are exceptions. Check the available programs below, as well as the list of programs that aren't open to international students.
Also, some programs have capacity limits on the number of international students. Please apply as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed. Please check the application open dates.
Before you apply, please check if the program accepts international students and if there is room in the program.
We also recommend that you check the Government of Canada's Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility criteria.
We have marked the PGWP eligible programs below. If you have any questions, please email international@lakelandcollege.ca.
Online business and human services program are not open to international students.
September 2025 programs that are closed for applications:
- Process and Power Engineering
International student application deadlines are in place to allow enough time for visa processing:
- June 1 for September (fall) start dates
- October 1 for January (winter) start dates
We recommend applying early as many popular programs fill up before the application deadlines.
We also encourage you to review your country's study permit processing times. Processing times vary by country and can take several weeks.
Not all our programs for international students due to residency requirements or because they do not meet study permit application requirements.
Study permit issues with part-time status and residency requirements are two of the reasons why we can't offer them to you.

Eligible programs
Fall intake
One of Lakeland's major advantages is the college farm where students have the opportunity to use their skills whether they are working in the small animal clinic, showing purebred cattle or making decisions about crops.
One-year certificate programs (PGWP Eligible):
- general agriculture
- post-bachelor certificate in commercial agriculture production Please note: completing this program isn't a pathway to any other Lakeland agriculture program.
Two-year diploma programs (PGWP Eligible):
Business at Lakeland College provides you with options in our diploma program, a general
business administration major, or take a more specific area of study. All programs
are on our Lloydminster campus.
Online business programs aren't available to international students.
Once you're accepted into the program, you will be automatically enrolled in courses for the first semester. A business advisor will guide you in choosing electives. Your advisor will guide you in choosing electives once you're on campus. You'll pick courses that match your interests and career goals.
One-year certificate programs:
- business administration
- administrative professional – This program has an industry practicum. You will need a co-op work permit.
- accounting technician
Two-year diploma programs are business administration with specific majors:
The process and power engineering program combines 3rd Class power engineering and heavy oil operations to broaden your future job options beyond the oil and gas industry.
This program requires industry practicums. You will need a co-op work permit. Details will be in your acceptance letter.
Lakeland's Environmental Sciences provides you with options in our diploma program or a generalized certificate.
One-year certificate program (PGWP Eligible)
Two-year diploma programs are in environmental sciences with specific majors (PGWP Eligible):
- land stewardship and conservation
- environmental conservation and reclamation
- general environmental sciences
- renewable resource reclamation
At Lakeland there are options to continue your education after you complete your diploma, either here or through a transfer agreement to another institution to pursure a degree. If you choose to stay at Lakeland you can complete the Bachelor of Applied Science: Environmental Management (PGWP Eligible).
We also offer an online sustainable energy certificate and diploma program.
Please note: the sustainable energy technology program is geared toward professionals and delivered online. Completion of the program doesn't qualify you to apply for a Canadian PGWP.
Learn the art of making someone feel great. You'll promote wellness as an important part of health care, use specialized skin care treatments, and address beauty, anti-aging and stress issues.
You’ll study the anatomy and physiology of the skin, diseases and pharmacology, epidemiology and nutrition. Plus, you’ll develop communication and business skills in our 1 year esthetician or clinical esthetician certificate program.
The face-to-face health care aide program (PGWP Eligible) on the Lloydminster campus is now open to international students.
This program requires multiple industry practicums. You will need a co-op work permit. Details will be in your acceptance letter.
Two of our face-to-face human services programs are open to international students.

- early childhood education certificate or diploma (PGWP Eligible).
Our blended learning community support practitioner program is also open to international students.
These programs require multiple industry practicums. You will need a co-op work permit. Details will be in your acceptance letter.
Lakeland College's interior design technology diploma program is a 2-year program offered on our Vermilion campus. Students learn to make commercial and residential spaces functional and beautiful. This program is also accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
Our students have consistently won awards in the NKBA's student competitions.
Interior design technology includes a required industry practicum. You will need a co-op work permit. Details will be in your acceptance letter.
Winter intake
Business at Lakeland College provides you with options in our diploma program with a general business administration major or a more specific area of study. All programs are on our Lloydminster campus.
Online business programs aren't available to international students.
