Requirements

1. High school diploma with a minimum of:

50% in English 30-1 or 30-2
50% in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2

2. Proof of English language proficiency

Notes:

If you completed high school outside of Alberta, check provincial subject equivalents.
If you don’t have the academic requirements, you may qualify through special admissions.
If you are an International student, check eligible programs.

There are no additional program requirements.

As you prepare for your start date, review this important information.

Enrolment is the final step after you've been accepted, paid your tuition deposit, and the timetable has been set.

You will choose your courses with your academic advisor.
If you apply before July 1, you can expect an email from the academic advisor beginning 2 to 3 months before the program start date. It will include instructions on how to book an appointment to choose your courses. If you haven't received an email from the academic advisor one month before Registration Day, contact the department toll-free at 1 800 661 6490 ext. 5424, or direct in Lloydminster at 780 871 5424. We'll double check to ensure we are using the correct email address.
If you apply after July 1, please be patient. The academic advisor will contact you by email. You don't need to call.
Once you've been enrolled, your schedule will be available in My Lakeland.

Note: Please check your email (including your junk mail folder) regularly.

If you completed relevant courses at another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for transfer credit. Apply for transfer credit at least 2 months before classes start by completing the transfer credit form.

Campus Alberta Partners Pathway

Incoming transfer students might be eligible for the provincial Business Administration pathway if you have completed Business Administration coursework at another Alberta post-secondary in the last five years. Please contact the Academic Advisor for more information.

When you complete the program requirements with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, you will be awarded an Accounting Technician certificate.

Options at Lakeland

Stay another year at Lakeland to earn a business administration diploma - the accounting major is one of your options.
After earning a diploma, stay 1 or 2 more years and earn a degree through our collaborative program with Athabasca University.

Other transfer options

Transfer your credit to Bow Valley College through our Campus Alberta Partners Pathway and continue on with a business administration diploma with a major in accounting.
