You may need to update your profile with personal or mailing details.

If you don't go by your legal or primary name, and are known by something else (nickname, shortened first name or your second name), then you'll want to change your preferred name.

For example

  • Katherine Dawn might be KD, Kate, Kathy or Dawn
  • Lawrence Henry might be Larry, Harry or Hank

When you applied to Lakeland, you were asked if you had a preferred name.  If you didn't provide one, we simply used your legal first name in this field.

You can't delete your preferred name, but you can update it.

To start, click on the Profile Tile.  Select Personal Details from the left-hand menu.

When you open Personal Details, you'll see 2 name lines.

Click on the Preferred name row.

This will open a pop-up where you can type over the current preferred first name.  Click Save to store your changes.

You can provide Lakeland with two different addresses:

  • a permanent address
  • a local address.

For most students, your permanent address is the address where you were living when you applied.  Most often this is where you will always be able to collect mail.  An example would be your parents’ address.

To update your permanent address, click on the + sign.

It is very important that you don't overwrite the existing address. Always use the + sign.  This maintains the history of your mailing address.

Fill in the address information including:

  • box/street number
  • city
  • province
  • postal code.

As you fill this in, the date will default to today.

However, you can also add the date that the address will become active. So, if you are moving in the future, you can change the date field to when your new permanent address takes effect.
