Your key to printing

Everything starts with your student ID card.

  • You'll need to associate it with a device.
  • It gives you access to your PaperCut account (shows your print credits).
  • Or, you may use a pin you receive from an email.

Welcome to a new way to print

Multifunction printers are a new feature on campus.

This will allow you to copy, print and scan from all the device locations on campus. You'll also be able to cloud print from your own laptop and collect what you wanted to print from the nearest device. Instructions are below.

You'll still be using a PaperCut account. You'll have a new option to purchase print credits online from your account. The other option is buying a print card with a redeemable code from the bookstore.

How to use multifunction printers

photo of where to place cardThis is called associating your card. You associate your card by tapping it on the card reader located on the multifunction printer (MFP) device.

After tapping it, you will be prompted to enter a username and password.

This will be your Lakeland College login info.

signing into PaperCut

After you log in for the first time, you'll receive a message saying: “Thanks! Now you can use
your card to log in”.

thank you message from PaperCut

You'll also receive a pin number in an email.

You'll always start with your student ID or pin.print release icon on screen

Then you choose what you want to print. Only jobs that you release will print.

Log in. Then you can print, scan or use another device function such as copy.

Choose print release.

Once you've finished, remember to log out. It's easy—just tap the log out button the top right of the device or scan your card again.

Once you install a cloud print driver you'll be able to print from your own desk or laptop computer.

Send your document to the printer from anywhere, including from home, and pick up your document on your way to class.

You'll be able to access the multifunction devices located throughout our campuses.

  1. Download and run Mobility Print.
  2. Double click on the mobility print installer in your downloads section. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Once this software is installed, go back to the webpage. Refresh. Then click on connect and get my printers.

For more detailed instructions, check out the e-document in the next drop-down.

Below is an e-document that covers 3 things:

  • using your PaperCut account
  • setting up to scan or copy
  • setting up Cloud printing

You may print or download a copy of the e-document.

Lakeland College complies with the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Your name and the time of printing will be visible in the print queue; no other document information, including document title or link, is viewable. If you have any questions about the collection and use of this information, please contact the FOIP Coordinator (5707 College Drive, Vermilion AB; 780-853-8524; FOIP@lakelandcollege.ca).

Report printer problems to Information Technology (IT) office on your campus:

  • Room 2067 in Lloydminster 8:15 am - 4:30 pm weekdays M-F
  • The Commons (library) in Vermilion 8:15 am - 4:30 pm weekdays M-F

  • Double side your documents whenever possible. Printing on both sides takes half as much paper.
  • Reduce the margins and font size on your papers/projects. Keep in mind best reading is at about an 11 pt font size. Some projects will have set margins or you will need a wider margin if the document is being bound.
  • Use print preview and only print the pages you need.
  • Print multiple PowerPoint slides on one page. Go to Print Settings and change the print layout to Handouts and designate the number of slides you want to appear on each page (you can choose up to 9 slides). PaperCut will only count the single page, not the number of slides on the page.
  • Whenever possible, collaborate using electronic documents.
  • Think before you print: "Do I really need to print this email/webpage/assignment?".

Printing costs

You may purchase credits inside your PaperCut account or buy a $10 card with a redeemable code at the bookstore. Either way, your balance will decline as you print. Cards are set up to decline in balance.
