Student computer access
Lakeland College students have access to computers on campus.
Computers are available in The Commons, as well as the computer labs.
By signing on to a computer, a student agrees to Lakeland's acceptable use policy.
Below are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
If you are having a particular issue, please use our IT help desk.
- two computer labs in the Commons (library) - AH016A and AH016B
- one computer lab in the academic link - AL112
Note: AL112 is open Monday to Thursday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm and Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Computer Labs in Lloydminster:
- three computer labs - BK 213, BK 215 and BK 118
There are student-use computers in the Commons on both campuses. They are available whenever the Commons is open. The Lloydminster student lounge also has computers for your use.
On the Vermilion Campus from September - April the Commons computer lab hours are:
- Monday - Thursday 8:15 am - 10:00 pm
- Friday 8:15 am - 8 pm
- Saturday & Sunday 10 am - 5 pm
From September - April the lab hours for AL112 & AL116 are:
- Monday - Thursday 8 am - 5:30 pm
- Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm
- Saturday and Sunday closed
On the Lloydminster Campus the Commons computer access is:
- Monday - Thursday 8:15 am - 10 pm
- Friday 8:15 am - 8 pm
- Saturday and Sunday 1 pm - 8 pm
From May - August, all computer lab hours are:
- Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 4:30 pm
Your Lakeland College username is
firstname.lastname@edu.lakelandcollege.ca.
Example: John F Smith's email address would be john.smith@edu.lakelandcollege.ca.
Your initial password
Your initial password will be given to you.
You can reset your password using the password reset page.
Notes:

Your password expires after 1 year.

New passwords must contain at least 8 characters and have at least 3 of the following:

uppercase
-
lowercase
-
numbers
-
special characters

Example password: Work100% - includes 4 of the requirements.

Your password can not contain any part of your user name.
If you've forgotten your password, or are locked out of your account please call IT at 780 853 8599.
Assistance is available Monday - Friday between 8:15 am and 4:30 pm.
Your account will automatically unlock itself after 15 minutes. You can reset your password using Microsoft's online password reset.

10¢ a sheet for letter sized black and white copies

40¢ a sheet for letter sized colour copies
Print credits can be purchased online through the student papercut portal.
Print credit cards may also be purchased at the campus bookstore for $10.00.

Report printer problems to Information Technology (IT) at 780 853 8599 or through the helpdesk portal.
Assistance is available Monday - Friday between 8:15 am - 4:30 pm.

For My Lakeland, if you are at your own computer, please click on this address myLChelp@lakelandcollege.ca to send your email. If you're on a Lakeland computer, you'll need to use the form on My Lakeland. You may also stop by student services on your campus. Please have your student ID with you.

For D2L, use the online support desk. Go to the technical support page, look for the Chat with an Expert window (bottom right orange box). Or, call toll-free 1 877 325 7778. Support is available 24/7 for both password help and D2L technical issues.
Check connecting details for your operating system or device on wireless access page for access to Wi-Fi on campus.
If you live in residence, you may also wish to purchase internet through Telus or Shaw. We recommend you get a separate account if you are an avid gamer or download a lot.

You should always sign out.

Log off your account as soon as you are finished using any computer.

If you don't, then you become responsible for any activities another person may perform using your account.
Sorry, you won't be able to. Work saved to the computer is deleted when you log off. So, don't save to the C drive.
Best practices:

Use a memory stick.

Save to OneDrive - you'll have access through your Lakeland college email address.
Items left in a computer lab are taken to the lost and found, located in the Security office.
Report broken equipment to Information Technology (IT) at 780 853 8599 or through the helpdesk portal.
